Job Title: Checking Attendant
Department: Checking Services
Reports to: Department Supervisor or Lead
Provides secure storage of customers and employee’s equipment and belongings.
First and foremost all of the guests and employees here at Stevens Pass are here TO HAVE FUN!! It is our goal to make sure that the crew in our shop is a big part of the overall fun at Stevens Pass. We have the opportunity to work together as a tight, efficient, fun crew. While at the same time providing outstanding customer service for our guests. Must be comfortable with the changing dynamics of a seasonal business.
Duties and Responsibilities
It is the responsibility of the Checking Attendant to consistently follow service guidelines and all operating procedures regarding Checking Services.
Checking Attendants are also responsible for setting up and shutting down the facility on a daily basis, receiving customer’s filled container/equipment and placing on a numbered storage rack, furnishing claim check, returning container/equipment upon receipt of claim check.
Attendants may also be responsible for collecting fees for use of facilities, accounting of funds for transactions, daily cash out, and proper completion of all paperwork associated with the operation of the facility.
Attendants will also be held accountable for any discrepancies in the total money tendered vs. money deposited.
Attendants will also be asked to take part in daily meetings, daily facility upkeep and maintenance, special projects, locating lost equipment and training programs. Other duties may be assigned.
Be knowledgeable about the ski area, Checking Services, and products and services available.
Show up to work on time and in uniform, remain at assigned station or area, unless otherwise directed.
Provide a positive attitude towards the workplace, co-workers and guests.
Communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and managers effectively regarding personal/work issues.
Able to work unsupervised in a manner that is professional and consistent with department policy and procedure.
Detail oriented, ensuring that all steps are taken to ensure the safety of the guest by properly completing and handling paperwork and equipment.
Ensure that duties/projects/tasks are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
Possess the ability to use good judgment when dealing with customer service situations and scenarios that are not clearly defined by department policy and procedure.
Respond enthusiastically when asked to help out in other areas.
Must possess the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must possess the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. Must possess the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral, written, or verbal form. Must possess the ability to accurately coordinate numbered claim check with location of numbered storage rack.
Checking Attendant 1
Must have a general knowledge of department’s offerings (daily, overnight, and seasonal, equipment and other gear) and ski area (restrooms, drinking fountains, restaurants, administration offices, Daisy chairlift, Rental shop, Ticket Sales, tool benches). Must know where to find safety information, SOP’s, and general guest information. Must know how to properly complete paperwork associated with lost/missing equipment, overnight storage, and valuable items storage. Must know how to properly operate cash register for conducting sales and giving refunds.
Checking Attendant 2
In addition to meeting or exceeding Checking Attendant 1 qualifications, Checking Attendant 2 must have level 1qualifications in at least 2 other areas within the rental shop (Rental Tech.1, Repair Tech.1, Demo Tech.1, Cashier 1). Must be certified by at least 1 alpine ski binding manufacturer. Must be able to recite and explain the department’s mission statement and service guidelines. Must have 2 years of professional experience at Stevens Pass or other similar winter sports resort, or related educational experience.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk and stand; reach with hands or arms; and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to bend, sit, or kneel; use hands. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
