Position Overview

Position:            Volunteer Mountain Host

Reports to:        Mountain Host Supervisor

Status:              NATIONAL SKI PATROL HOST PROGRAM VOLUNTEER

 

JOB SUMMARY

 

Serve as an integral part of the Stevens Pass team by supporting the overall quality of the guest experience. Promote the Fast, Friendly, Flexible and Fun philosophy, generate goodwill, and serve as an informational resource for guests.  Provide information to guests about pass/ticket sales, rentals, ski school lessons, special events, marketing promotions, service locations and general area and mountain information.  Support operations around the mountain including:  Guest Services, Patrol and Lift Operations.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 

  • An outgoing and vibrant personality
  • Ability to communicate easily with all types of individuals and groups
  • Must be guest relations/customer service-oriented
  • Ability to communicate effectively with program supervisor
  • Works well in a team atmosphere
  • Proficient at skiing and/or snowboarding, comfortable navigating blue terrain
  • General knowledge of Stevens Pass terrain
  • Possess current American Red Cross First Aid and CPR card for NSP registration, or have the ability to obtain one
  • Must be comfortable with the changing dynamics of a seasonal business. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Attend meetings in other departments including: Guest Services, Patrol, and Lift Operations
  • Greet and assist guests at assigned areas throughout the resort, including parking areas, base area, and on the slopes
  • Support the efforts of the Guest Services division by maintaining a working knowledge of products, services, and amenity locations
  • Assist ticket sales outside ticket windows by coordinating and directing guests according to their needs
  • Conduct marketing surveys throughout the season
  • Assist Patrol with crowd control and use assigned radios to communicate incidents
  • Provide guided mountain tours for guests
  • Assist with events as needed
  • Serve as an ambassador of goodwill while sharing chairlift rides with guests
  • Assist Lift Operations to improve guest flow on chair lifts, including helping to keep ramps clear of guests
  • Be available November through April on designated volunteer days, including weekends, holidays and peak days
  • Volunteer up to 20 shifts during season; 4 to 8 hours each depending on team designation
  • Attend company orientation and training
  • Perform other volunteer duties as directed 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

While performing the duties of this job, the volunteer is required to talk and hear; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with, climb or balance, and be able to smell. The volunteer must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. May occasionally lift and/or move more than 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to walk, stand, ski and /or snowboard on a wide variety of surfaces including snow and ice. Ability to perform duties in all weather conditions.
