Position Overview

Position:           Security Manager

Reports To:       Mountain Operations Manager     

Status:              Year-round, 10-month (2-month break), benefited, exempt         

 

Job Summary   

 

Oversees all security operations and functions. Fiscal responsibilities include labor and expense control for

the security department budget.

All security personnel

 

Qualifications & Experience

 

  • A minimum of 1 season of experience in a leadership role within ski area operations or equivalent relevant other experience
  • Bachelor degree or 5 years’ relevant experience preferred
  • Have a high level of integrity, energy, and enthusiasm
  • Good communications skills and judgement
  • Ability to coach, counsel, and discipline employees
  • Must have strong customer service skills and be a team player
  • Computer experience in word, excel, and comfortable with email
  • Must become or be familiar with security systems, camera data logging, incident documentation and record keeping procedures

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Hires, trains, educates, and managers staff
  • Works with Mountain Operations Manager to assure safety and security measures for all departments
  • Manage security department in fiscally responsible manner
  • Work closely with other mountain operations departments to ensure smooth openings and closings
  • Help ensure the safety and security of all guest’s and employees
  • Help protect the company form legal and/or slanderous actions
  • Work with FS LEO, Chelan and King County Sheriffs, WA State patrol troopers and other related agencies as needed
  • Works closely with Risk Manager and other department managers as needed
  • Responsible for orienting and monitoring of personnel involved with classified information
  • Responsible for all interviewing, hiring, training, and discipline of all staff under them
  • Investigations of incidents, accidents and criminal acts
  • Maintains all lost and found items. Accurate and neat record keeping of such items
  • Summer duties to include parking, RV reservation system and lot
  • Ability to have a flexible schedule to accommodate Thursday-Sunday summer schedule

 

Physical Demands and work environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may extensively work on a computer, view a monitor; speak to others, including large groups; uses hearing; gives instructions. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or greater with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may be loud on occasion. The employee will occasionally walk on slick, wet, snow-covered, or uneven surfaces.

Perform additional tasks as requested by the General Manager, VP of Mt. Operations, other senior team members, and other operations team members.
