    Job Summary

    This is a non-paid volunteer position under the direct supervision of the Marketing Manager. Event volunteers assist with facilitating summer events at Stevens Pass in various areas including registration, timekeeping, course set-up and tear down, course maintenance, equipment maintenance, race/contest gate keeping, course officials, and safety. Volunteers will be required to register with the National Ski Patrol Host Program.



    • Must be at least 18 years of age or older
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to provide a positive experience for both event participants and supporters
    • Previous event experience as a participant or volunteer preferred
    • Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word preferred
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • General knowledge of Stevens Pass terrain and resort area
    • Must be comfortable with the changing dynamics of a seasonal business



    • Assist Event staff with setup and tear down of event area and equipment; assist with event coordination and duties throughout the duration of the event as needed
    • Set up event area signs, banners, fencing, rope, and other materials as required for the event
    • Act as a spokesperson for the resort, answering guest and Event staff participants questions, providing directions, and general information of the resort, event schedule, and program
    • Assist with registering participants for events; collect liabilities and/or event participation fees and maintain accurate records
    • Assist with event awards presentation, setup, and tear down as needed
    • Refer any media inquiries to the Marketing Manager



    • Arrive at scheduled events on time and ready to volunteer
    • Be available to volunteer on scheduled days and times including weekends, evenings and holidays; committing to a minimum of volunteering for 4 event days
    • Be willing to take direction, work independently, and focus efforts as a part of a team, supporting the Event staff as needed
    • Adhere to specific departmental and safety procedures, company policies, and service guidelines
    • Act as an ambassador of the resort, presenting a positive, energetic, and friendly attitude to guests, employees, and fellow Event staff members and participants



    While performing the duties of this position, the volunteer is frequently required to walk; use hands and arms to reach, lift; climb or balance as well as hear and talk. The volunteer is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, hike, crouch or crawl. The volunteer may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or greater with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The volunteer is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The volunteer is occasionally exposed to cold, wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud. Some facilities are located at the base or bottom of the resort and some are semi-remote and can only be reached by traveling via chairlift(s). Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped and slippery.  Ability to stand in place both indoors and outdoors for extended periods of time in variable weather conditions.  Ability to walk & or stand on a wide variety of surfaces including snow, rocks, and even ice while carrying event equipment.
